Ice Cream Cone Cake and Cup Cakes

My first attempt on cakes!! Although it's not a whole cake, and I 'cheated' using ready cake mix (haha), but I am glad the end product was better than I expected! :) It looks really colourful when top with M&Ms chocolates, I think this is great for kids' parties! :)

And since I have left overs from the cake mixture, I decided to bake some cup cakes!! :)
As usual, my boy is always my first 'customer'. See how much he enjoyed! :)

Number 7

Milk tooth number 7 had been rather shaky for the past few days, and Damien had complained that it was painful when he tried to shake it (which was not the case for the past 6 milk teeth). We were contemplating if we should bring him to the dentist this weekend.

Just before he turn in last night, he told me he is worried that the tooth might came off while he is asleep. I re-assured him that it won't happen and we would go to the dentist tomorrow if he is so worried. Told him to have an early night and went into my room to breastfeed botak.

I settled botak half an hour later and was about to check on him when he came into my room with a glee on his face and told me excitedly: "Mummy! See! It came off already!! No need to go dentist tomorrow!! Yes!! I did it!" haha...and I thought he was already fast asleep!! So he has been shaking and pulling his tooth while I breastfeed!! :) He told me he couldn't sleep as he kept thinking the tooth will come off during his sleep, silly boy! :)

Darius' Talk

We were at the electrical department of a shopping mall and I caught him touching the fan, so I told him: "Didi, don't touch the fan, it's dangerous." Just then, he saw a middle-aged man checking out on one of the fans, and he went (very loudly) :"Uncle! Hey Uncle! Don't play with the fan, it's dangerous! Uncle!" *palm on face*

I was explaining to Damien on some maths problems, after the nth time, he still gave me the blur look, I couldn't control my temper and went :"Uncle! Can you pay attention?" My little botak pointed out my "mistake" immediately: "Mummy, this (he) is not Uncle! This(he) is gor gor, this (he) is Damien."

The lift at our block was down for maintenance recently, he couldn't wait to 'report' to everyone he met while waiting for the lift. "Uncle, see the lift is spoilt, have to repair." And when Uncle A didn't response, he'll turn to Uncle B or Aunty C and went: "See! The lift is spoilt! Have to repair!" I don't know why he's so "chatty".

He is into spelling recently...just the other day, he picked up a toy box with aeroplanes printed on it and went "A-I-R-P-O-R-T spells AEROPLANE!!" and today, he saw this three letter on the container of his cod liver oil and he went "DHA spells Cod Liver Oil!! Yeah!"

Well, though he gets on my nerves most times, I don't deny there are moments where he really brightens up our days! :)

Learning Fest 2009 - 20 Nov 09

Was at Damíen's school to attend the Learning Fest last Friday. Glad that hubby was able to take leave. The boy was really thrilled to see us there!

There were many stations which displayed works done by the students, but it's a pity I was not able to go view all of them. Botak was quite a handful, perhaps he was too overwhelmed to see so many gor gors and jie jies around. :)

Damien sure had loads of fun playing the games and running around with his friends. I'm glad next year he will still be in the same class with all his friends. :)

Parent Teacher Conference – 16 Nov 09

The daddy was not able to attend the PTC yesterday and I was contemplating if I should leave botak with mum or bring him along. In the end, I decided not to trouble mum again. So off we went to the PTC.

I packed my bag with laods of goodies – biscuits, bread, toys, books to keep botak entertained. But was glad that I need none of that! He was well-behaved throughout the session!! Which is rather rare since this energetic boy is always on the move!! Perhaps he knew this is serious talk, that’s why! :)

Oh and I have to mention this. While I was carrying the pram (with botak in it) up the stairs to Damien’s classroom, my little boy said: “Be careful, mummy, be careful.” I don’t know if he’s worried about me, or that I might drop him with the pram, haha! :P

Back to the PTC.

I can’t believe that my boy has almost complete his first year of Primary education, it seems like only yesterday when I worried about how he would cope in the ‘big school’and one year down the road, I can safely said that he, or rather we, survived!

And yes, I was very pleased yesterday when the teacher told me that he has shown vast improvements over the last 6 months. His confident level has increased; he gets along well with his classmates; he raised his hands to answer questions when he knows the answer to it (this is news to me :P). Overall, he has matured over the months.

The only area he needs to improve is his carelessness in his daily work. I have been thinking of ways and means to correct this weakness of his. Constant reminders work the best. I do not want him to lost unnecessary marks due to careless mistakes, which is what happened in the recent test.

I praised him for his efforts in making such great improvments, and of course, did not forget to remind him to overcome his weakness (typical kiasu mummy). We shall work together and I know he can do better next year. :)

Like a Dog Dog?

He told me before he pulled this silly face : "Mummy, you see, you see, like a dog dog!"

Haha...I think he looks really like a cute little puppy here! :P

My Darlings

I love watching the father and sons engaging themselves in some silly stuff.

I can see Damien bahaving more and more like the father, while botak copies almost every single move the gor gor made. It's such a heartwarming feeling seeing how my 3 darlings getting along so well. :)

What is your eye colour?

Damien asked me one day: "Mummy, what colour is our eyes?" "Black." He took a closer look at me and continued: "But..mummy, why is your eyes brown in color?" hmm...I decided to tease him and so I replied: "Well, you know why? That's because mummy has special power, that's why."

To my surprise, he really believe what I told him and said: "Ah Mummy, I know I know, that's why you can always guess what I am drinking right? And you also know what I am thinking and what I am going to say sometimes! Wow, mummy, I also want to have this special power!"

Haha, kids are just kids. So these days, when he is able to solve more complex problem sums; or when he perfected yet another Yo-Yo stunts, he would point to his eyes and said: "See, mummy, my eyes are turning brown slowly!" silly boy! :)

Lantern Festival

We had wanted to join in the Heart Formation of people carrying Lantern at Vivo City on Saturday. However, the sky was gloomy when we reached, and it started to drizzle while we were having our dinner. We aborted the plan and walked around the mall instead. Damein was disappointed, and he asked me: "Mummy, can I carry my lantern tomorrow?"

It was still drizzling when we were on our way home. The kids ended up playing with their lanterns in the car.:)

Children's Day

Baking, watching TV programs and playing their favourite LEGO was how my two boys spent their Children’s Day.

Damien requested to have the Doggie cookies after he read about them at Ivy’s blog, so this morning, we decided to bake and named it our mini Children’s Day project. :)

The boy was all excited about this project. He helped me to set up my newly bought Mixer and went through the ingredients to make sure the blur mummy did not missed out anything. I must say he is a very good helper. :)

Talk about the Mixer, it really makes wonders! The dough was done in less than 10 mins!! What a jiffy! However, the ‘making’ of the doggie face was quite a challenge. Perhaps we are not one with nimble fingers, our doggie face was not nicely done. Damien nearly wanted to give up, haha…but he persisted, and eventually decided to come up with his own design – boy face with hat. :)

Both boys found the cookies not sweet enough, they’ve got sweet tooth like me!! :) Damien even commented: ‘Mummy, I was so happy when I was preparing but when I eat, I was a bit disappointed, because it’s not sweet at all.” Silly boy.

I cooked noodle for them as lunch, just a simple soup noodle dish but Damien said it was delicious and finished it in record time. :) He is always so encouraging. :) We had a short nap after our bath. Did some assessment with Damien, and off he went to watch his favourite OKTO program and played LEGO with botak, while I prepared their dinner.

Nothing special on this day, but Damien said he enjoyed the baking, the TV program and ‘mummy’s noodle’. I feel so blessed. :)

Girl Girl

Damien saw these pictures of botak with tigger and he went: "Mummy, only girl girl take pictures with soft toys! Why did you asked didi to take picture this way! He looks like a girl now...haha!!"
Hmm...so he thinks only girls can take pictures with soft toys...

Launch of Fathers

Damien's school has started a support group amongst the fathers known as Launch of Fathers. The group's objective is to support fathers in the important parenting role as well as for fathers to become heroes in the eyes of their children.

Hubby attended the launch event two Saturdays ago, and he has volunteered to be in the committee. There will be activities like outings, picnics, nature walk, rock climbing or ball games etc organised to forge the bonds between fathers and children.

Starting this Saturday, there will be a weekly badminton session. Damien is all excited about playing badminton with the daddy. The pair went out to buy their badminton rackets over the weekend, and now they are all set for the game. :)

I am glad hubby take the initiative to be involved in Damien's school life, and I believe it would make a difference to both father and son. :)

20092009

An easy date to remember...the day my brother held his customary wedding ceremony. Just a very simple affair between two families. The bride was not even in a wedding gown and there was no bridal car (hubby was the driver for that day); dinner was also within immediate family members at Kam Boat Chinese Cuisine. But I think what's most important is that the couple is happy, and they are, it's all written over their faces. :)
The yummy roast pig; oranges; mum's delicious noodles and 'tang yuan'.
The tea ceremony...
My family! :)

Here's wishing them a blissful marriage! :)
